I annotated the articles by writing the key things I thought was important on my blogs. I was not too sure how to annotate on screen so I put my main opinions that I thought was important on the blog. To read a pre-annotated article was interesting because I was able to compare what I thought was important to what someone else thought was important. I saw a different interpretation and that helped shaped my opinions too. I tried to view my options and the authors opinions by seeing if we had the same ideas.

Before reading a book I like to look at the back of the book and read the summary that basically sums up what's going on it the story. I also like to see how popular the book is by seeing how much reviews it got for previous readers. Another weird thing I do is I will read the ending of the story so when I do start reading it I tie in how the ending happens while I go though reading the book. I also see how long it is to know how much I need to read with in a time to finish the book at the preferred time for class. So far for my book club readings I have not done anything because I was not completely sure what I was supposed to do.

Everything is a learned subject someone can understand if taught Everyone interprets texts in their own opinion More than one perspective of reading Focused systems of writings More meaning than just first thought Different ways learners grasp the idea of a text. “Like English or spanish, art is a language that can be learned and understood. It is a form of communication.” You can communicate through art. Art sends out different messages that the artist was feeling while the were creating the piece. I believe the quote, “However within the text are embedded other language structure through which the view can respond.” is trying to say the everyone only views on perspective of the idea given through the language. They do not go deeper then they should too get the full meaning. “Language is used to communicate the acts as a force on viewers to encourage particular actions or beliefs.” Everyone takes in language differently and act too it in their perspective...

How reading relates to one’s life and their own world The act of reading is seen as a higher development process for humans critically understanding of the act of reading Extended into knowledge of the world and words language and reality are connected The quote in the text states, “Surrendering myself to this effort, I re-created and re-lived in the text I was writing, the experience I live at a time when I did not yet read words”. In my opinion I think the writer is trying to say that  he still did not write words from his life. He did not relate or fully feel the words. Another quotes state's, “Insistence on a quantity of readings without due internalization of texts proposed for understanding rather than mechanical memorizing reveals a magical view of the written word, a view which must be superseded” I believe that this quote means that writing is not just about memorizing how to construct a writing. It is much higher and powerful that a constructive e...

8/24 Syllabus Response

I am very excited to learn how to view readings in a different perspective in this next year long course. The syllabus states that we... will learn to enhance our critical thinking skills Learn to look beneath the surface of reality Learn to reflect and analyze text I believe that with this course I will become a better writer and critical thinker because it seems like we will get a good amount of different text to analyze and critically think about. I like the idea that we basically get all our assignments and notifications through iLearn and via email because it's all in our fingertips so it’s pretty hard not to know what's going on in the class, which is very convenient. I have to say thought I am a little nervous about writing the essays because writing is not really one of my strong qualities, so I already know that my essays won’t be as strong as they should be at this point. So I am hoping that in this year course I will reach the class requirements and bey...
